Summary

Lippmann speaks of becoming an activist with the Aboriginal Advancement League (AAL) from 1957, eventually holding the position of Vice President; later she became involved with the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines & Torres Strait Islanders (FCAATSI) and more aware of the problem of racism in Australia; with her experience speaking on Aboriginal issues she took a position as a researcher and lecturer on Aboriginal Issues at Monash University from 1964 and eventually wrote 5 books on Indigenous history, politics and race relations gaining a reputation as an international expert on Aboriginal issues; in 1973 she was appointed as Education Adviser to Gordon Bryant, Federal Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

Lippmann speaks about her involvement with the Aboriginal Advancement League from 1957 and with the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines & Torres Strait Islanders. She later took a position as a researcher and lecturer on Aboriginal issues at Monash University, and eventually wrote five books on Indigenous history and politics and race relations in Australia. She talks about working as Education Adviser to Gordon Bryant, Federal Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, her appointment as Complaints Officer for Migrants and Aboriginal Peoples at the Human Rights Commission, and her involvement with the Victorian Chapter of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal & Torres Straits Islander Studies. Lippmann also discusses current issues for Indigenous Australians.
