Stan Guy, a storekeeper & folk musician, born 1920 in Dubbo, N.S.W. recalls his parents background, father migrating from China in 1916 and buying a business in Binnaway, N.S.W.; early memories of retail stores & community life in Binnaway; community relations; history of the family general store during the Depression, after the war and the effect of changes such as introduction of self service upon it; Binnaway's railway population & the importance of the railway to the survival of the town; musical interests of the family; his musical interests (violin, piano accordion); playing with various dance bands (eg. White Rose Orchestra & Southside Five); formation of own band Rhythm Rascals; dance nights and the type of dance music played; filming of The Shiralee (motion picture) in Binnaway.
