Dept. of Post-War Reconstruction, 1942-1946; First Secretary with the Australian Mission to the United Nations in New York, 1946-1948; Dept. of External Affairs including departmental secretary, 1948-1965; Australian representative in many international negotiations; Australian delegate to international meetings including United Nations, Colombo Plan Consultative Committee, ANZUS, SEATO, Commonwealth Prime Ministers and Ministers Conferences.
