"This report outlines the Domestic Violence Intervention Response Team (DVIRT) model developed and implemented during a 6-month pilot, from July to December 2001, in the Brisbane Water Police Local Area Command NSW. DVIRT was designed to increase the level of safety, support, and information provided to women and children who experience domestic violence ; to increase the uptake of Apprehended Violence Orders (AVO) and, as a consequence, decrease the incidence of repeat offences." -- P. 4.
