Richard Evans born in Coventry, England (1945) recalls his family background; family's emigration to Australia; his raiway apprenticeship as a toolmaker and work as a precision engineer. He speaks about precision engineering industry in Australia; his interest in playing and repairing concertinas; concertina tunings and temperaments; his interest in folk music with the concertina; playing with Sydney Morris Men (musical group); old concertina makers in England; his early experiences as a concertina maker (1986 onwards); manufacturing techniques; evolution of the concertina; Stanley of Bathurst, Australia's first concertina maker; bush ingenuity used to repair the instrument; Clem O'Neil; playing styles. Evans discusses a variety of concertinas he has.
