He first published it in English as: An authentic narrative of a voyage performed by Captain Cook and Captain Clerk ... (London, 1782) (Beddie 1600) which was two years before the Admiralty's official report: Voyage to the Pacific Ocean (London, 1784). This German ed. is an anonymous translation and according to Kroepelien an abridgement.
