Biography/History

Blumenbach was a German naturalist, anthropologist, physican, historian and bibliographer. Regarded as the founder of physical and scientific anthropology.

Notes

Consists of 100 numbered plates accompanied by text of animals incl. recently discovered ones.

A collected work which is a re-arrangement of the 1st ed.

Cole Library considers 1810 ed. a [2nd ed.]

Includes a description, classification and plate of the platypus, given the taxonomic classification Ornithorynchus paradoxus by Blumenbach.
