Forbes identifies several states of the first ed., i.e., AA; A; B; C; D.

Library's NK5094 copy half bound with marbled boards; photocopies inserted for missing plates i.e. frontispiece and facing p. 249; stamped "S.S." with anchor with a garland of leaves inside front cover; also bears the bookplate of Rex de C. Nan Kivell (no. 1781/3).

All the Library's copies appear to be state B with p. 225 as 22_. and introduction p. vi printed as iv.

Library's Petherick copy is a large paper copy being uncut (24 cm.) and bound subsequent to publication with spine title: Jnl of Captain Cook's last voyage to the Pac. Ocean.

Library's SR2 copy in full leather with spine title: Cook's last voyage; bookseller's description loosely inserted attributes the work to American, John Ledyard (1751-1789) as the likely author; stamped Commonwealth National Library, 35882, 31 OCT 1945.
