Summary

One diary entitled "To India and back" recording Syme's second visit to India. A detailed account of the places visited, the people met, local customs and religions are included. The diary is illustrated with 94 albumen photographs depicting ethnic and social groups, costumes, architecture and customs.

Biography/History

Herbert Syme was the oldest son of David Syme, a newspaper proprietor, and a brother to Sir Geoffrey Syme.
