Image also published in Ion Idriess's 'Greatest stories' with the caption "Until the development of the green belt in the 1940s, wind blown sand threatened to engulf Broken Hill and summer dust-storms were frequent. Even the green belt could not tame 'a real Terror', which, as the picture shows, could blot out the sun in mid-afternoon".
