Contemporary Australian life was explored by a gathering of chefs, food writers, cultural historians and others who focus on food at the Food for Thought forum, the fourth annual Weekend of Ideas organised by Manning Clark House, Canberra, March 2005. Speakers at the forum included: Stephanie Alexander, Gay Bilson, Margaret Fulton, Tim Pak Poy, Barbara Santich, Alan Saunders, Joanna Savill, Dr Keith Suter and Tony Tan. The third annual Dymphna Clark Lecture was delivered by chef, restaurateur and writer Gay Bilson. As part of the Weekend of Ideas, chef Janet Jeffs recreated the menu from the film Babette's Feast in The Ginger Room, Old Parliament House, Saturday, 5 March 2005.
