Home page of John Oxley Library's Child's play site. The Web site includes over 1,000 photographs of children from the 1890s to the 1920s. The majority of them are focused on growing up in rural and regional Queensland. Child's Play provides access for Queenslanders, Australians and international visitors to photographs that reflect Queensland's diverse culture and heritage through the experiences of children. It also provides educators and students with resources which can be used in the classroom, including some activities that are linked to the new Queensland Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE) syllabus. Apart from the focus on children, a number of key themes guided the selection of photos for the site. They are: the environment; school; cultural diversity; Federation; ceremonies; technology; and, games and toys. The site includes links to related sites.
