- Summary:
-
The focus of this paper is on the asymmetrical arguments advanced in the Palestinian-Israeli discourse to obscure and distort the fundamental asymmetries of the conflict. Such arguments have transformed the conflict from being a simple case of dispossession and displacement of the indigenous population by a foreign people into a complex conflict of false claims, myths and confusion of causes and consequences. The result is the triumph of the Israeli narrative, the dominant orthodoxy, over the Palestinian, a triumph of mythology over veracity. The paper suggests some reasons for this triumph.
