Summary

Deputy Prime Minister Brian Howe stands firm in his opposition to plans by Minister for Health Carmen Lawrence to transfer primary health care for Aborigines from ATSIC (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands Commission) to her department. Minister for Aborigines Robert Tickner stands sort of in the middle, but everyone agrees that whatever happens, there has to be an improvement in Aboriginal health.--Information provided by Geoff Pryor.
