Cutting, Jeff, 1945- Blood red noon, photography of the Brindabella & southern ACT fires of January 2003.

Summary

"Old Bulls Head Camp at 1345 hrs, 16:01:2003. Without containment, the slop-over from the Bendora fire into the Brindabella valley threatened the safety of Bulls Head staging area and access to the fires along Mount Franklin Road and would eventually outflank containment operations. Protective backburning linked up with this fire some 200m south of Bulls Head, and proceeded northwards around the western side of the Staging Area then (next day) continued along the Mount Franklin Road towards Picadilly Circus. At the same time, backburning proceeded down the old Honeysuckle trail towards Brindabella, to contain the southerly spread"--Note from the photographer.
