- Biography/History:

Aboriginal Islander Dance Theatre (1976 to 1998) was the first contemporary indigenous Australian dance company. It formed from the Professional Development arm of NAISDA and was responsible for most performance requests of the organisation. AIDT toured extensively, both nationally and internationally. When the company disbanded in 1998, members then formed Bangarra Dance Theatre (see separate file under Bangarra in the PROMPT collection).
