- Summary:
-
The introduction of a number of fuel tax reforms on 1 July 2006 provides a timely opportunity to review the entire Schedule to the Excise Tariff Act 1921. The Schedule, in its present form, is the result of many years of change and appears to contain provisions which are now redundant and provisions which are unnecessarily difficult to understand. This review is aimed at reducing compliance costs for excise manufacturers and other excise stakeholders, importers and administering authorities, and to determine whether the Schedule to the Excise Tariff Act 1921 can be streamlined.
