John Frost, born 1952 in Adelaide, talks about his family background and education; deciding at age 9, to make a career in the performing arts; his first job after leaving school, as a stage hand for Tibor Rudas on "Snow White"; his role as a dresser on "Mame" and travelling Australia with this production; living in Adelaide with his mother and brother prior to his return to Sydney to work as a dresser on "Canterbury Tales"; Johnny Lockwood; his position of Wardrobe Master for the tour of "Canterbury Tales"; working as a dresser on "Fiddler on The Roof"; working as an Assistant Stage Manager on "Wise Child"; working for Ken Brodziak and Harry M. Miller; Melbourne production of "Hair"; working as Stage Manager on "Sleuth"; Barry Humphries; his work as Trainee Theatre Manager at the Metro Theatre and then Assistant Theatre Manager for Hoyts at the Century Theatre; working for Channel Nine Television; working as an assistant stage manager with the Old Tote Theatre Company; subsidised theatre and the feasibility of using lottery money to fund the arts.

Frost talks about the Adelaide Festival Centre; working as Assistant Stage Manager on "The Kingfisher"; the responsibility of the producers and the media to build "stars" in the theatre; his position as Activities Co-ordinator with the Elizabethan Theatre Trust; working in a theatrical management agency; managing the Marian Street Theatre in Killara, N.S.W. and brief period as Artistic Director for the Theatre; running the theatre in the Sydney Kinsellas complex; partnership with Ashley Gordon to lease and run The Footbridge Theatre; Bridget Aschenberg in New York; various productions; Ashley Gordon's illness and death; the effects of the AIDS epidemic on the Australian theatre community; the reorganisation of the Gordon Frost Organisation; the production of "The King and I"; Hayley Mills; visits to Australia by the Trustees of the Rogers and Hammerstein Organisation; the American production of "The King and I"; his first Tony Award for this production; his other productions; his second Tony Award for for "Hairspray"; being involved in "The Producers".


John Frost, born 1952 in Adelaide, is an Australian theatre producer and managing director of the Gordon/Front Organisation. He has produced over 60 stage productions in Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, the UK and the US. He has received numerous awards, including two Tony Awards, for his work.
