Smith; taking violin lessons at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music; working with father making violins at the age of sixteen after a year at secretarial college; the impact of the depression on music businesses; marrying Ernest Llewellyn (1939); business difficulties as war began; father's health; her husband's family background; his love of music and the violin as a young child; the influence of Jascha Gopinko; leading a string quartet and an orchestra at age ten; auditioning for Joseph Szigeti at age thirteen after which he concentrated on music full time; his full scholarship to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, giving it up the after six months to concentrate on his career independently; filling in for William Krasnik playing Viola in a touring quartet; Llewellyn playing Viola for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, later auditioning to play violin; Lionel Lawson and George White; Melbourne Conservatorium; Jascha and Tossi Spivakovsky; memories of WWII; their first child; Hephzibah Menuhin; Isaac Stern; the William Capell Scholarship, awarded to her husband; overseas travel; Eugene Goossens; conductors of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; her husband's health; his resignation from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; the background of the Canberra School of Music, early days of the new school; the involvement of the Australian National University; challenges, processes and complications establishing the school; conducting work and the success of the building.

Ernest Victor Llewellyn CBE, was an Australian violinist, violist, conductor and musical administrator. He was the founding director of the Canberra School of Music and is commemorated in the concert venue there, Llewellyn Hall.
