- Map of Victoria showing general topography, agriculture and gold fields. The map is divided into an alphanumeric grid lettered along the left margin, numbered along the Victorian border, with 1 cm. equalling 10 miles. In addition, the map uses concentric circles at 10-mile intervals originating from Melbourne as a means of quickly estimating the relative distance of any place from Melbourne. The map lists statistical information up to 1858 on the population of towns, gold field townships, the quantity and value of gold production, but exports and imports are only listed up to 1857. The accompanying booklet provides an index to placenames throughout Victoria. Relief shown by hachures.
