"In 1941 Joe joined the RAAF and became a Wireless Air Gunner. Shortly after their wedding he was posted overseas based in Singapore where he was seconded to the RAF. In January 1942 he was reported "missing in action". It was not until 1953 that the family officially learned he had been killed in action and was buried in the Kranji War Cemetery, Singapore. Alice's family were farmers in the nearby Koraleigh district. She later remarried and lived in Western Victoria."--Notes from acquisition documentation.
