An artist's book interpreting the control and oppression of Aborigines in Queensland through their right to vote using government documents found in the Queensland Archives, overlayed with images of Aboriginal blood. The artist initially declined when she was invited to create an artist's book for a project to commemorate both the 1967 constitutional referendum, which determined that Aborigines would be counted in the census, and the centenary of women's suffrage in Queensland, but when she heard Loris Williams, former Archivist, Community and Personal Histories Section of the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Policy, use the term, 'a preponderance of aboriginal blood,' in a lecture at the University of Queensland, she felt compelled to produce this book, which she dedicated to "all those writers, artists, researchers, educators and librarians who have helped reveal the whitewash of our history." Copies of original documents from the State Archives, which the artist found "so potent and so oppressive," with a "heaviness" that "dictates an era of constriction and control for all Aboriginal people caught with its web" were simply photocopied onto thin paper, and, using chine collé, overlaid with etched images of blood. The artist states that "because the material from the archives already has a latent power" she didn't want to change very much and that "its leakage onto the page was enough."
