Notes

Reissue, with collective title pages, of seven pamphlets originally published between 1795 and 1809.

Recorded by Shaw & Shoemaker 28367 is "Select pamphlets ... Duane's collection, 2 v. Philadelphia, 1813-14." The contents are described only as "pamphlets issued separately 1795-1809." The only known volume of Duane's "Select pamphlets" dated 1813 is that "Containing: An investigation of the law of nations ..." This volume is also recorded separately by Shaw & Shoemaker 29765. Five volumes of Duane's "Select pamphlets" were issued in 1814 (see Shaw & Shoemaker 31364, 32739, 32740, and 32741), including two different collections "Containing: Sampson against the Philistines."

Shaw & Shoemaker entry 32741 does not distinguish between two volumes of Duane's "Select pamphlets. Containing: Sampson against the Philistines. ..." One is as described here; the other includes: Sampson against the Philistines. Politics for American farmers. Letters to Alexander Hamilton, king of the Feds. Test of government. Barlow's letter to his fellow citizens. Speech of Thomas Paine, July 7, 1795. Law of nations--by W.J. Duane. Decline and fall of English system of finance. An account of Louisiana.
