MS Acc06.132 comprises diaries, 1948-2003, creative writing works, including a draft for an unpublished autobiography (in box 5), photographs, correspondence, video tapes, programmes, sketchbooks and other personal documents (8 boxes, 1 fol. box).
The Acc08/49 instalment includes official personal documents such as ration books and identity and health care cards, a small amount of correspondence and greeting telegrams, typescript diary notes, notes on painting composition, and obituaries of Gadsdon (1 packet).

Dancer. Joan Gadsdon was born in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales on 24 April, 1923. In Sydney Gadsdon joined the ballet lessons of Mischa Burlakov and took art classes with painter Hayward Veal. As a ballet dancer she toured with the Kirsova Ballet and, from 1944, with Edouard Borovansky's company in Australia. She emigrated to London in 1947, and danced there with the Metropolitan Ballet. She also performed in "The Boy Friend" on West End for several years. She worked as a portraitist and art teacher after she retired from the stage. Gadson died in London on 12 October, 2003.
