An annual Celebration lecture is held at the National Library of Australia and each year the Friends of the National Library honour the work of someone who has contributed to the creation of book culture in Australia. The 'Thomas Keneally celebration' was held on the 22 October, 2006 at the National Library of Australia honouring his career.
- Biography/History:

Thomas Keneally is Australia's most admired writers. He is best known for his novel 'Schindler's Ark, which won the Booker prize in 1982 and was later made in the award-winning film 'Schindler's List'. He was born in Homebush, New South Wales, October 7, 1935 and educated at St Patrick's College, Strathfield. He worked as a schoolteacher in Sydney, before his success as a novelist, and was a lecturer at the University of New England. He has also written screenplays, memoirs, and non-fiction books.
