Dalton Bon, born 1938 speaks about the inspiration for his songs; the history of the songs "Segur Esemuda" and "Twilight on the island of Sue"; early musical influences; Murray Island love songs; the first song he wrote; European dancing on the Island. Bua Mabo, born 1937, speaks about Murray Island loves songs; European and traditional dancing; men singing the songs while working on the boats; the spread of the songs to other Torres Strait Islands and the mainland; metaphors used in the songs; George Mye.

Biography/History

Dalton Bon was born in 1938 and grew up on Mer/Murray Island. He is an Anglican priest. Bua Mabo was born in 1937 and grew up on Mer/Murray Island. He is a cousin of Eddie Mabo.
