Audrey Johnson, a social worker and administrator, speaks of her politics being derived from George Bernard Shaw; how she sought fellowship in the Communist Party (CPA) and later the Labor Party (ALP); her work as a social worker and research assistant at the University of New South Wales; writing "Bread & Roses"; her parents were Plymouth Brethren and a working class family, her father was a stonemason who lost his job in the 1930s and lived off a small farm in Currajong.
