Biography/History

The Capitol Theatre opened in 1924 and was the first picture palace to be built in Australia. It was designed by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin, and is notable for its ornate plaster ceiling lit in four colours by 4,000 concealed light globes.
