Notes

Map shows voyages of Portuguese explorers.

Map showing voyages of Portuguese explorers, emphasizing the importance of Portuguese discoveries from 1482-1606. All names are given in Portuguese, and Portuguese navigators are credited with the discovery of both the North West and the North East passages. Though his voyage was financed by the Spanish monarchs, Magellan is included as a Portuguese explorer. However, there is no claim of a Portuguese discovery of the east coast of Australia.
