- Biography/History:
-
Bruce Blyth, born in 1926, was taken in by his great aunt at the age of two years, following the death of his father. He became an educator and on his retirement became a publisher with P&B Press. When coming across a manuscript written by a Bindoon survivor, Lionel Welsh, it moved him not only to publish the story (The Bindoon Files) but to also take up the cause of the survivors to achieve justice. Victims of Institutionalised Cruelty Exploitation and supporters (VOICES) was formed in 1991 to press for a 'judicial inquiry' into orphanages run by the Christian Brothers in Western Australia. He was greatly admired for his advocacy work on behalf of former child migrants. Bruce Blyth passed away on the 25th July 2006.
