Rosemary Kyburz talks about her work as a teacher and its influence on her political views; her family's political outlook; her motives for joining the Liberal Party and standing for the Queensland Parliament; winning Salisbury at the 1974 Queensland election; Joh Bjelke-Petersen; the influence of the anti-Whitlam Government swing at the 1974 state election; her impressions of State Parliament and being a new MP; life as one of only two female state MPs; her views on the Liberal Party and its state leaders; the quality of opposition provided by the Labor Party; Liberal Party meetings and joint government parties' meetings with the National Party; the demolition of Bellevue Hotel in 1978 and use of police by the Bjelke-Petersen Government; the National Party efforts to win Salisbury; Sir William Knox; Sir Llewellyn Edwards; the impact of a weighted electoral system or gerrymander; the Cedar Bay raid in Far North Queensland (1976); police corruption; the ban on street marches (1977).
