- Summary:
-
the primary purpose of this monograph is to describe the relationship between adolescent personality and the educational and vocational development of young adults, criteria for the latter being developed from the project talent follow-up studies. this relationship seeking is set in a context of career development theory and a concern for guidance practice. the monograph is a sequel to "measuring adolescent personality" (map), which reports the factor analytic research on the talent battery. a measurement theory is reviewed for describing adolescent personality in its educationally relevant traits. some evidence on the etiology and the stability of the traits and some technical aspects of making the measurement of these traits operational are discussed. predictive validities were established for the traits against the follow-up studies' criteria in the areas of educational and vocational adjustments and career development. these prediction studies were accomplished by computing the 22 map factor scores for each of the individuals included in the study, following the procedures outlined in the original map report. the authors also deal with the issue of what career guidance should be, given the career theory developed.
