Summary

This report summarizes the formal presentations and panel discussions of a conference on the current problems of educational personnel development. Chief education officers from 27 States attended the conference, as well as representatives from the U.S. Office of Education. Summaries of the 13 separate sessions are presented topically under (1) the administrator's role in school improvement, (2) accountability and performance contracting, (3) compensatory education for the disadvantaged, (4) getting and holding better teachers, and (5) curricular reform and improved instructional techniques.
