This study presents some of the most frequent questions asked by teachers in Indiana concerning phase-elective English programs. Some answers to these questions were compiled by a committee appointed by the Indiana State Department of Public Instruction. The contributors reviewed published and unpublished articles and curriculum guides, as well as their own experiences in planning multiple-elective programs, before formulating answers to the questions. Some of the questions asked were: What is this curricular innovation? Who should design the courses? Will they last? How much planning time is required? What is the cost of the programs? How can they be evaluated? A bibliography of books, articles, and curriculum guides is included. There are also appendixes dealing with sample course descriptions and sample course outlines in creative writing, appreciating the mass media, and experimental writing. (Author/DI)
