Rolfe talks about her first involvement in quilting; practice of sewing and other handicrafts in home and attendance at a summer course in patchwork and quilting in Los Angeles and making of an Ohio Star. She then talks about returning to Canberra in 1975 and difficulties encountered in doing quilting in Australia. Rolfe then describes the formation of Patchwork Group, later Canberra Quilters in 1976; development of particular interest in quilt heritage of Australia; studying art history at Australian National University and awarded grant from Crafts Board of Australia Council to research history of quilt making in Australia. She then describes the Changi quilts; decline of quilting in 1950s and its current popularity. Rolfe then considers the appeal of quilting; revival in 1970s; invention of straight line patchwork and making of Sturt Deset Pea quilt; creation of first book and Australian Women's weekly article on her work.
She then discusses her quilting publications; change in technique to incorporate foundation piecing; discovery of convict quilt in Scotland, Rajah quilt, different levels of quiltmaking; teaching; machine and hand quilting; Australian Council of Quilters; Westbury quilt; quilts for Paralympics and Braidwood quilt festival. Rolfe then discusses the seminar "Australian quilt making 1901-2001"; art quilt making; role of competitions; importance of Blue Wren in quilting career; making of quilt for "Colours of Australia" project; quilts made for family members; processes involved in quilt making and the role of quilts and quilting in her life.
