The 4-H intern report organizes concepts and materials to aid the extension worker in his role as coordinator and trainer of 4-H volunteer staff. A 10-item task analysis of the extension worker--4-H and youth--as volunteer leader coordinator is presented. The importance of managing a volunteer staff is touched upon, and models for job descriptions are illustrated for the 4-H organizational leader and for the 4-H project leader. A volunteer agreement form is included, which can be useful from both the extension agency and volunteer viewpoints. A form for a volunteer personnel inventory itemizes pertinent personnel information. An annotated bibliography of resources provides the extension worker with materials for assistance in training and supporting volunteers. Appended materials expand upon the manager role by providing check lists, a coding system for resources, role-task identification for volunteers, and background information for planning. (AG)
