In this document separate articles deal with the following topics: recommendations for future British broadcasting policies that recently were proposed to the British Parliament by the Committee on the Future of Broadcasting; specific media goals set by the Swedish Committee on Broadcasting; communications policy making in Austria; a new broadcasting bill in the Netherlands; the conflict of interests of the media in the United States; a project to encourage the sharing of traditional technology with poor people in rural areas throughout the world; EURONET, an expanding computer network that will have host computers in many European countries; recent international discussions about broadcast satellites; the launching of the first European satellite; and the possibility of using the early Hollywood experience as a model for film and video production in developing countries. Short notes are also provided on broadcasting events in many different countries, including France, Canada, the Bahamas, Guinea, and Egypt. (GW)
