Summary

This document provides a dynamic action plan for social work services in secondary education. It defines, develops and evaluates social work services for students, parents and staff of one high school district. Questionnaires and evaluation criteria are included. The authors take the position that a primary function of social work in schools is the responsibility to facilitate student and family advocacy when necessary and to assist in planned change and development of programs and resources of the school and community for the enhancement of the learner. Another primary function is to provide services to students in the prevention, resolution or alleviation of personal, social and emotional problems and needs involving intergroup relationship systems (such as family, school, peers, community and organizations) when such conditions have a bearing on the quality of student learning and social functioning.
