- Summary:
-
Relationships between residential mobility and short and long-term academic achievement, and cognitive development were examined considering inter- and intra-community moves at different developmental periods for 382 adolescents (168 boys, 214 girls). One-way ANOVAS by sex with academic development measures as dependent variables, mobility indices as independent variables and Sheffe follow-up tests were computed. Higher long-term academic achievement and cognitive development were related to moderate and high preschool, adolescent and inter-community mobility, with relationships being stronger for boys.
