- Summary:
-
A project was designed to develop a curriculum model based on salient, sequenced occupational tasks. After an extensive literature review and staff discussions, a modified Q-Sort procedure was formulated to select and sequence tasks. The procedure made it possible to readily utilize a catalogue of tasks compiled by the Vocational-Technical Consortium of States (V-TECS). The tasks were used to develop a competency based modular vocational and technical model. Two general automotive task outlines were prepared as examples of the application of the sorting procedure. The outlines are intended to serve as models for subsequent instructional program designs which employ V-TECS catalogues. Also, a procedure handbook for local educators (included as Appendix A) was written to detail procedures for using V-TECS occupational catalogues to develop competency based modular instructional programs.
