Description [Washington, D.C.]] : Distributed by ERIC Clearinghouse, 1977
93 p.

An evaluation was conducted of four faculty development workshops sponsored by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine for faculty in family practice residency programs. Objectives of the evaluation were to determine the extent to which the workshops achieved the specified educational objectives and to assess the operational aspects of the workshops. The response of participants to different curricular components, logistic considerations, the mix of participants, and cost considerations were assessed. A participant questionnaire provided background information on participants and their institutions and reactions to the workshops. Judgments regarding success of the workshops are based on multiple sources, including the evaluation team, participants, education planning committee representatives, and the workshop staff. The judgmental statements use criteria regarding achievement, participant reactions, discrepancies between intended and observed activities, ratings on Havelock's seven factors for information dissemination, and the appropriateness of the workshop activities relative to the objectives of the project. Descriptions are provided of the evaluation procedures, the workshops, and the judgments of effectiveness. Appendices include: the participant questionnaire, faculty activities rating, curriculum check list, component session rating, dissemination and utilization rating form, and participant summary data.
