Guidelines are presented to help college students prepare for taking tests, with particular instructions for objective, essay, and quantitative tests. A check list suggests the types of information which should be known before starting to study for a test--such as type of questions and probable content. Techniques for studying include outlining course content and mnemonics. Strategies for taking objective tests (matching, multiple choice, true-false, and direct answer) direct the student to pay attention to specific words and phrases. Directions for taking essay tests stress the organization of ideas and time limits. Quantitative examinations--described as frequently given in business, mathematics, and science classes--must be carefully paced so that the students' time is efficiently spent. Sample test exercises are presented for each of the main types of tests--objective, essay, and quantitative--and for self-pacing. The appended key work list defines and interprets words which are frequently used in examination questions. (GDC)
