The document presents Module 4, applications of theories of creativity to the gifted/talented, of the Star Power modules developed for school personnel who have an interest in or a need to explore the area of gifted and talented education. It is explained in an introductory section that the modules can be used for independent study, for small group interaction, or for a large group inservice program. Part I focuses on J. Guilford's Structure of Intellect model, while Part II covers contributors to understanding creativity (including E. Torrance, A. Osborn, W. Gordon, and F. Williams). Each part is divided into sections with the following: enabling objectives (such as apply Guilford's model to specific activities in your teaching area and describe several procedures for cultivating creativity in gifted/talented students); rationale to establish a frame of reference; preassessment tests and evaluation; instructions for scoring the preassessment instrument; activities (which cover such topics as discussing implications of the Structure of Intellect model for career counseling and making a list of books and resources which can be used to stimulate creativity); and postassessment procedures.
