Intended for use by vocational administrators responsible for mainstreaming handicapped students into vocational education classes, the resource guide lists and describes governmental and private agencies that provide vocational programs and support services for the handicapped on a local and statewide basis in the California counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, San Joaquin, and Solano. The agencies are presented alphabetically, grouped by counties, with a separate section for statewide agencies. A listing of agencies by relevant handicapping conditions is also provided. Under each agency is listed its name, its specific concern, the handicapped groups it serves, its intended users, the specific services it provides, its address, and any costs of its services. The agencies described provide the following types of vocational and support services: vocational testing and evaluation, vocational counseling, prevocational training, work adjustment, sheltered workshops, work activities, building and equipment adaptation, job placement and referral, independent living skills, information and referral, legal advice, diagnosis and evaluation, psychological services, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, special aids and appliances, braille and tape transcription, mobility and orientation training, deaf interpreting, medical services, instructional materials, educational assessment, academic tutoring, and advocacy.
