An evaluation of the final year of the Lincoln, Nebraska, public schools experience-based career education (EBCE) program focused on three major components: student outcomes, parent evaluation, and community sites. The Career Maturity Inventory (CMI), the Intellectual Achievement Responsibility Questionnaire (IAR), and a locally developed survey were selected as measures of student outcomes: (1) career awareness and information, (2) self awareness, (3) career decision making and planning, (4) application of learned skills to jobs, (5) positive view of school and working, and (6) good work habits. Pre- and posttesting showed minor differences except for slightly more positive results on the IAR. (Data tables are presented.) A questionnaire surveyed the satisfaction of participant community sites with the program. Focus was on personnel perceptions of student learning, working with students, student conduct, and recommendations for the future. Longer involvement, it was found, led to greater acceptance of the program. A parent survey focused on percpetion of program impact. Responses indicated positive attitudes and a general feeling of some influence on students' planning and work attitudes but not on behavior at home or perceptions of school. (Appendixes include descriptions of the CMI and IAR, student outcome data, and student, community site, and parent survey instruments.) (YLB)
