The attitudes and training and/or personnel directors within the Canadian business and health-area sectors towards nontraditional education in management and health services administration are reported, based on 173 surveys to business/government and health-care institutions. Following an introduction to the study, Part Two, "Nontraditional Degree Programs in Business Management and in Health Services Administration," examines nontraditional education, education in business management, and education in health services administration. Part Three, "A Study on the Attitudes of Business and Health Care Managers towards Nontraditional Management Education," reports the purpose and methodology, results of the study, statistical tables and figures, and results of the personal interviews. Personal comments of Canadian School of Management faculty, students, and employers appear in Part Four. Part Five offers the following conclusions: (1) there is a need for nontraditional programs in health-services administration, either through the university community, or through institutions specially set up to offer continuing education for working adults; (2) more information about nontraditional management-education programs would lead to their greater acceptability in the business community; (3) there is a strong interest among business, government, and health-care employees in part-time programs of study offered in a format that is accessible to those who work full time; (4) it is important to maintain high academic standards in such programs to provide acceptable levels of education; and (5) on the whole, the acceptance of the nontraditional degree among directors of training or personnel in Ontario is favorable. Appendices include the questionnaire, a summary of the U.S. Department of Health study, and the philosophy of Canadian School of Management. (LC)
