This first to be published dictionary of Khowar has two parts, an introduction and the Khowar-English dictionary itself. The introduction describes Khowar, the primary language of the Chitral District of the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan. Khowar is described as an Indo-European language that came to the isolated Chitral valley more than two thousand years ago. The introduction also explains the process of linguistic analysis whereby the sound system of the language was described and an original system for writing it in the Roman alphabet was developed. In the dictionary section, English words and phrases are used to explain the Khowar word. (AMH)
