The next section discusses four basic recruitment approaches: personal contact, mass media, printed publicity, and interagency cooperation. The recruitment process--preparation, execution, and "the close"--is outlined. Other contents of the handbook include a general analysis of the volunteer's role, operational procedures for volunteers, rights and responsibilities of volunteers, and facts on illiteracy problems (nationally and in North Carolina).
