To support children's librarians in their continuing advocation of reading is the purpose of this annotated bibliography, which lists children's literature ranging from more than a century ago to just a few months before publication. The book begins with a brief selection of titles, for librarians and parents, about choosing books for children and young adults. The book then categorizes titles as follows: (1) picture books, (2) books for grades 1 to 3, (3) books for grades 3 to 5, (4) books for grades 5 to 7, and (5) books for grades 7 to 9. Lists of Caldecott and Newbery award winners are listed separately from the text, with recommended first purchases indicated by an asterisk. An index concludes the book. (EL)
