- Summary:
-
A study sought to determine the supervisory practices of college of education faculty who supervise student teachers at the University of Nevada-Reno. The survey viewed student teacher supervision from three perspectives: (1) policies and procedures followed by colleges in the evaluation of college supervisors by student teachers; (2) the range of supervisory behaviors employed by student teacher supervisors; and (3) the level of student satisfaction with the supervisory experience. Responses indicated that positive student ratings of the college supervisor rested upon approximately six items: (1) supervisor's interest in the student's professional improvement and growth; (2) supervisor's ablity to clarify the student's concerns; (3) sufficient length of observation; (4) ability to diagnose learning problems; (5) frequency of feedback; and (6) conducting regular seminars. The survey instrument is appended. (CB)
